The final date of a dog sterilization program, named “Control Integral de Perros Provincia Cardenal Caro” (Integral Control of Dogs in Province Cardenal Caro) has finished successfully in the beach resort of Bucalemu, Paredones commune. The program started late last year, with visits to the areas of San Pedro de Alcántara and Paredones.

The program was promoted by the Provincial Government and financed by the Regional Government, and its main goal was to control the great dog population in our province, which brings several problems to our community, such as the transmission of parasitic and bacterial diseases, the aggressivity of dogs, and several other welfare problems to our people.

The sterilization campaign also visited other communes of the province, and promoted sterilization and education about responsible pet ownership, considering the canine overpopulation in the province is higher than the national average.

Governor of Cardenal Caro Province Teresa Núñez, Regional Government and Municipality of Paredones officials were present during the realization of the campaign in Bucalemu.

Both authorities and the company that carried out the project were satisfied with the obtained results, and the high attendance of locals and their pets.
